Bolshoi Theatre
The Bolshoi Theatre is a historic ballet and opera theatre near Moscow’s Red Square, originally designed by architect Joseph Bové. Before the October Revolution, it was a part of the Imperial Theatres of the Russian Empire along with Maly Theatre in Moscow and a few theatres in Saint Petersburg.
Throughout the long history of the theater, more than seven hundred ballet and opera performances have been produced on its stage. The Bolshoi Theater is even depicted on the 100-ruble banknote, first issued in 1997.
